Bremen Workshop, March

29 March 2016 Workshops, General

We started the project with a beautiful group of around 20 people, but at the end of the week we were 25. The age of participants was from 14 to 28 years old, and lots of them were coming from our big community dance projects. We had a nice surprise when we met the new dancers, because some of them were older than our participants and that brought a nice energy to the group. They all felt very happy dancing together.

Every day we started with a good technical warm up. For some of them it was quite new but the most of them are used to modern dance and went strong into it.

We did some community dance games to get to know each other, and started talking about the main theme of Migration so that everybody had the chance to get into it, and also to write something about it.

We did different improvisations together, and every day we worked on different choreographical motivs. Sometimes we divided them in small groups in order to let them create their own choreography and together we did some big movements on stage with the group. We also worked on a part of a choreography based on “feeling home wherever you are”.

We were pleased there was a mixture of both male and female’s in the workshop.  Since this workshop was in the Easter holidays not everybody who wants to join the project was present. We will welcome more participants the next workshops.

The whole week was a big pleasure and a big adventure as well, and we are looking forwards to the next rehearsals in May.

We made some really interesting material in these first few days we look forward to developing.
